Tecumseh High School presents the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the graduating class of 2018.
Alex Foss (left), valedictorian, participated in numerous extra-curricular activities during his time at THS. He played for the Tecumseh Indians football and basketball teams as well as participated in Student Council, the Peer-to-Peer Program, the National Honor Society, and Link Crew. Alex plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall to pursue a degree in engineering. Looking back at his time in high school, Foss indicated Mr. Ramsell was one of his biggest influences. “Mr. Ramsell is a great facilitator,” Foss said. He really motivated me along with all of the students in his class.”
Alex Lammers (right), salutatorian, plans to attend Rice University in Houston, TX to study bioengineering this fall. He was a member of the THS rack and cross country teams, while also serving as president of the National Honor Society and participating in Link Crew. He played in three area orchestras; the Siena Heights Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Adrian College Orchestra, and the Tecumseh High School Orchestra. One of Lammers’ favorite classes at Tecumseh was also one of his most challenging, “One of my favorite classes was AP Chemistry with Mr. Ferwerda, just the challenge and rigor of that class and being able to learn it all, was a very rewarding experience.”
As both Alexes prepare for the next phase of their education, they share this advice for those learners entering THS in the fall.,
“Take a challenging course load to see if you can handle it and hopefully, it will give you some direction as to what field you want to go into in college,” said Lammers.
Foss echoed those sentiments while adding, “Learning how to manage your time and work hard while in the classroom now will benefit you later in your education.”
