Tecumseh High School starts an Esports team

Esports, also known as electronic sports, is a competition using video games. Most commonly, Esports takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions. Esports is wildly growing. It's becoming an Olympic sport, there are millions of dollars in prizes in professional leagues and thousands of dollars available in college scholarships.

The THS Esports team will be coached by Brett Andrew. Mr. Andrew is a father of four Tecumseh students and an avid video gamer. He has previous coaching experience as a flag football coach in the Play 60 Program. THS currently has 50 students in the program. These Esport athletes will compete in the games Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Super Smash Bros., Rocket League and Overwatch.

“I look forward to being a part of the Esports team and can’t wait to get everything started and watch it grow,” said Andrew. “I only wish they had this when I was a kid.”
