Sources of Strength is a student driven group that focuses on hope, help and strength. The goal is to help students identify their Sources of Strength so that when they face difficult situations they know where to turn.
There are eight strengths that we focus on: Positive Friends, Mentors, Healthy Activities, Generosity, Spirituality, Medical Access, Mental Health and Family Support. During the week of March 18 -22 we will be highlighting Mentors. Activities this week will include two of our staff members sharing their stories about how they used their Sources of Strength to help them through a difficult time. The focus of their talks will be about overcoming obstacles but some sensitive topics may be covered.
Students will be encouraged to talk to a counselor at the high school if they are affected by this information. You may want to encourage a discussion with your child. Students will also be asked to write a quick note to staff members this week to describe how they have been a positive mentor in their life.
