Transportation App Provides Real-Time Data to Parents

TPS and First Student Transportation are excited to announce the introduction of the FirstView Bus Tracking app in early 2019.

This free, user-friendly mobile and desktop app will allow parents to see where their child’s bus is along the route and the anticipated arrival time for their stop.

“First Student is looking forward to providing this new service for TPS families,” said Shannon Gatti, First Student Transportation Manager for TPS. “It is a secure and convenient way for parents to receive real-time arrival information about their child’s bus.”

Parents will see when the bus arrives and departs from their child’s school, and can choose to receive alerts via push notifications or email for any delays.

“Parents will receive a notification if the bus is delayed for any reason, giving them peace of mind,” said Dr. Kelly Coffin, Superintendent. “Parents can choose to add up to three additional contacts to their child’s account, so grandparents, babysitters or other caregivers can anticipate pick-up and drop-off times.”

The district plans to roll out the app in phases, starting with North and South Early Learning Centers, then Compass Learning Center and followed by East and West STEAM Centers and Tecumseh High School.

Parents and guardians should look for more information about exact start dates and instructions for using the app to be provided after the first of the year.
