In a stunning display of coaching skillfulness, Kristy Zajac has clinched not one, not two, but three Coach of the Year titles in the realm of girls’ basketball. The accolades include the Associated Press Division 2 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year, Lenawee Coach of the Year, and SEC League Coach of the Year.

Peers and student-athletes have hailed Coach Zajac’s leadership and coaching acumen. Under her guidance, the girls’ basketball reached new heights this year, showcasing their mettle with an outstanding 22-5 record. This remarkable achievement marks the team’s first regional title in nearly half a century. Moreover, they have secured a share of their first conference title since 2004.

She expresses her gratitude for the recognition. Coach Zajac emphasizes the collective effort behind the team’s success.

“I am so grateful and honored to be named D2 coach of the year. Our team went above and beyond my expectations for this season, winning our first Regional Title in 49 years with an outstanding group of student-athletes and staff,” said Coach Zajac.

What’s more, her illustrious background as a former standout player at Eastern Michigan University, where she ranks among the top scorers in school history, adds further weight to her coaching prowess.

“I have been blessed to work with these amazing student-athletes while learning from one of the best coaches, Coach Bart Bartels,” added Coach Zajac. “We wouldn’t have had the season we did without the dedication and hard work of all of our players and coaching staff.”
