The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education has officially commenced the search for a new superintendent following the retirement announcement of the current Superintendent, Richard W. Hilderley, in August of 2023. Superintendent Hilderley will complete his tenure at Tecumseh Public Schools on June 30, 2024.
The Board of Education has unanimously selected the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to lead this critical search. The association will spearhead the process of identifying potential candidates for the Board of Education to interview and eventually select the next superintendent of Tecumseh Public Schools.
The Board values the input of various stakeholders, including staff, students, and community members. Sent out separately will be a survey link for community members to fill out. Also, the Board and MASB have scheduled meetings to gather insights as part of the search process. These meetings include:
- Tuesday, January 23, 2024
- 1:00 pm: Students (grades 9-12)
- 2:00 pm: Support Staff
- 3:00 pm: Secondary Teachers and Staff
- 4:00 pm: Elementary Teachers and Staff
- 5:00 pm: Administrative Staff
- 6:00 pm: Community (location information to follow)
A brief presentation from MASB regarding the search will be conducted during these meetings. A virtual Zoom meeting will be held to discuss the superintendent search process. That is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 6 pm. More information about the virtual meeting will be released soon.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications online at https://masb.myrevelus.com/. The deadline for submission is 4:00 pm on March 5, 2024. The district will not accept hard copy, fax, or email applications. Candidate materials can be treated confidentially upon request until the interview scheduling stage when candidates' names will become public.
