šŸ¤˜šŸŽøšŸ„šŸŽ¶šŸŽ¶šŸŽ¶ Party on, Herrick Park Intermediate Learning Center! Students and staff played the part during Friday's Sock Hop. Many dressed up in traditional 50s styled outfits, dancing and partying the day away. At the end of each session, the students were treated to a root beer float! A Sock Hop is a dance party from the 50s and 60s where teens would take off their shoes and dance in their socks on the wooden floors in a local gym. Just like over at Patterson Intermediate Learning Center, Herrick Park ILC is decked out in a rock and roll theme. Itā€™s tied into National Reading Month for March because our students are Reading Rock Stars!

March is 'National Reading Month,' and today was Superintendent Rick Hilderley's turn to read to our students! Superintendent Hilderley had been in and out of meetings but was able to stop by Herrick Park Intermediate Learning Center earlier today. Also, the students understood the assignment. Have you had the chance to download the Tecumseh Public Schools app? If not, itā€™s so easy to do. Where to find the app: ā€¢ For Android: https://bit.ly/3oPn4BI ā€¢ For iPhone: https://apple.co/2LU0Obu Weā€™ve made some changes to the app. When you first load it, the ā€˜Homeā€™ page features the ā€˜Live Feedā€™ and ā€˜Events.ā€™ However, you know have the ability to make the app appear like the desktop version of the website. Just click ā€˜Menuā€™ and youā€™ll see the options bar. Click ā€˜Full Websiteā€™ and youā€™re good to go! We also want to make sure youā€™re aware of the ā€˜Push Notificationsā€™ feature. Watch out, news industry. Some of our youngest students are gunning for your jobs! Starting this week, 3rd and 4th graders at Herrick Park Intermediate Learning Center began delivering the ā€˜newsā€™ to their fellow classmates and the staff. Normally, the principal may make the morning announcements, but our students have taken over those duties. News of the day consists of the anchors leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, events at Herrick Park, the weather, random facts, and more. Also, on Fridays, the anchors hold a drawing for READY Expectations winners. Winners get their choices of several available prizes. READY Expectations are: Respectful, Exhibit Safety, Accountable, Determined, You Belong. Teachers and staff have been working hard teaching and practicing these building wide expectations with all students. Students are acknowledged for their behaviors they exhibit through READY tickets.
