Tecumseh Public Schools is proud to announce Tecumseh High School senior Anne Roesch has been named a finalist for the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Anne is one of only 15,000 high school students nationwide to be selected for the honor.

During this highly competitive process, more than 1.5 million high school students took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test at the beginning of their junior year. This was to become eligible for the program. Anne was a high-scoring entrant, earning her a spot as a semi-finalist and now a finalist.

To be selected for a finalist, Anne submitted a detailed scholarship application in September. That included her academic records, school and community activities and more.

As a finalist, Anne is now in the running to receive a National Merit Scholarship. 7,500 scholarships worth more than $30 million will be awarded later this spring.

"The school community, including fellow students, staff and administration, are extremely proud of Anne's efforts," said Dennis Niles, Tecumseh High School principal. "I personally, as an educator, feel quite proud to count Anne among my students and want to wish her all the luck and success possible."

Anne is a National Honor Society officer, plays the alto saxophone in band and is a member of the girls’ varsity tennis team. Anne says her biggest influences at TPS have been all of her teachers, but especially band teacher, Mr. Joe McInchak.

After graduation, Anne plans to attend either the University of Michigan or Northwestern University, and study biomedical engineering.

Anne is the daughter of Ross and Kara Roesch of Tecumseh.

Tecumseh Public Schools wants to congratulate Anne on her outstanding representation of Tecumseh High School and wish her good luck in the final round.
