Some special guests stopped by Tecumseh Acres Early Learning Center today to read to students. Student-athletes from the Tecumseh High School Girls Varsity Soccer team read to students in several classrooms. But that wasn't the whole visit. The student-athletes took over the gym for a little bit to play with the kids.

TPS families: We are keeping track of potential inclement weather on Wednesday, April 5. Right now, we could see storms rolling through our area during school hours tomorrow. That said, we want to reassure families that each building has a storm preparedness plan and that staff regularly review it, including running drills. We are in constant communication with the transportation department. If the weather turns dangerous during dismissal time, we will reevaluate our release plans, and if any adjustments are made, we will notify you. Besides email, text, and phone calls, please continue monitoring our social media pages, TPS website, and app for updates. Thank you!

March Madness wraps up here in the coming days, and while there have been some great games, a great March Madness competition at Tecumseh High School just happened. We're talking about Poetry Madness! In Ms. Owen's Creating Writing class, students entered their favorite poems from their portfolios into four different categories. The categories were Free Verse, Sonnets, Villanelles, and Tanka/Cinquain/Haiku. Students competed against one another until a champion was crowned. Bracket winners: • Free Verse – Bryleigh Ahearn • Sonnets – Eris McDonald • Villanelles – Emily Stevenson • Tanka/Cinquain/Haiku – Cameron Curtis Congratulations to Cameron Curtis on winning Poetry Madness! #MarchMadness #ItsPoetryMadness

Our National Art Honor Society students from Tecumseh High School are using their time to give back to the community. The students recently stopped by Cambrian Senior Living, Tecumseh to make jewelry with the residents there. The event was a huge success as 16 residents took part in the jewelry-making process. This event was funded by a grant from the Community Learning Foundation. Our students and staff were excited to participate, and they hope to collaborate with Cambrian again.

The final day of the Nashville Tecumseh High School Music Trip was a stop in Kentucky before coming home. Students and staff visited the Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, KY. There are a ton of stories about the cave. It was an ancient native hunting ground, a Civil War campground for both the Union and Confederacy, a hideout for the infamous outlaw Jesse James, and a swinging underground 1930’s nightclub. Jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald once performed at the nightclub. The quick but eventful trip ended with a dinner before arriving back in Tecumseh.

Day two was quite busy for Tecumseh High School students in Nashville. The music students had a busy itinerary, which included a stop at the historic RCA Studio B. Elvis Presley recorded over 240 songs in this studio. The students would also take part in a singer/songwriter workshop, and there were performances at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The THS Music Trip is wrapping up today.

The 80s/90s feel at Herrick Park and Patterson Intermediate Learning Centers isn't just limited to the 'skatery.' Staff and the PTO at each building have assembled a pretty cool Glow Room! This is part of #NationalReadingMonth celebrations. The rooms have ring toss, cup stacking, glow Jenga, hopscotch, crafts, tic tac toe, glow tattoos, glow bowling, and more! Great job, staff and PTO!

It's been a party at Herrick Park and Patterson Intermediate Learning Centers. During National Reading Month, the buildings have been decked out with a 80s/90s feel. Part of that theme has been a 'skatery.' For much of the month, students and staff have busted out the roller skates and used their gyms as a skating rink. The students have had a great time and are getting in some good exercise.

Thank you to our special guest reader Laura Numeroff! She read to our Tecumseh Acres Early Learning Center kindergarten students via Zoom for #nationalreadingmonth. Ms. Numeroff is the author of 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.' She read stories to the class, showed off her rescue dog, and took some questions from the students. The students had McDonald's Happy Meals, which came with Laura Numeroff books as toys as a pretty cool bonus. A special thanks to Ms. Numeroff for reading to the students!

Middle schoolers are bringing the books to our elementary buildings for National Reading Month. Recently, TMS Educators Rising Club members stopped by Patterson Intermediate Learning Center and Sutton Early Learning Center. They brought several books with them and created mini-bulletin boards based on them. They would share them with the ILC and ELC students. It was a fantastic opportunity for these prospective teachers to interact with our youngest minds at TPS. These Ed Rising students are interested in teaching the lower grades. Educators Rising is a student organization. It helps students develop the strong leadership traits found in high-quality educators by offering various opportunities for student leadership.

It was a nice surprise for our band and orchestra teachers. Tecumseh Middle School 8th-grader Brandon Bemis surprised teachers Kellie McInchak, Joe McInchak, Amy Marr, and Kim Kang with some awesome gifts! Brandon gives back to a charity, either a hospital or animal shelter, for his birthday every year. If you remember, Brandon was the subject of a story done by WTOL 11 in March 2021 for his efforts in putting together a toy drive for C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor (https://bit.ly/3Fq5q1Z). This year, he wanted to give back to the TMS staff. Brandon purchased items off the band and orchestras Amazon Wish List. He also surprised them with plants and donuts! The McInchaks, Mrs. Marr, and Mrs. Kang were grateful for the gifts. Thank you for your generosity, Brandon!
